Routine cleaning is best done with soft household detergents such as “Spray & Wipe” then rinsing clean with water.  During cleaning, the surface of the stone may change a little in colour (appears darker) until the surface moisture evaporates; the stone will then return to its natural appearance.  All stone is porous to a minor extent and with regular cleaning will always be in excellent condition.

F.G.A. GRANITE & MARBLE PTY. LTD. also have available professional stone care products such as Daily Spray Cleaners, Spray polishes and Marble and Granite Sealers relevant to everyday domestic use.  (Please advise our consultants for further information).

The following points will help in maintaining your bench top:

  1. Do not leave spilt oils, coffee or other liquids for any length of time on the polished surface.  Remove any spilt materials as soon as possible.  All stone products are sealed prior to departure from our premises, HOWEVER, this sealer only gives you more time to remove any spilt liquids or other materials off the polished surface.
  1. Very HOT OBJECTS should not be left on the polished surface for any length of time.

Strong heat may adversely affect the crystals that make up the rock and may, on rare occasions create thermal shock which will lead to minute cracking within these crystals.  Where hot pots are to be placed on the polished surface, we do recommend some insulation between the pot and the surface of the stone.

  1. All rocks, like other materials, have a “LOAD LIMIT” therefore excessive weight on the surface, especially on overhangs on your benchtop SHOULD BEAVOIDED.
  1. Strong industrial chemical cleaners or detergents that are strongly acidic or alkaline, or petroleum derivatives are undesirable.  If in doubt do not hesitate to contact our office.

Thank you for selecting F.G.A. GRANITE & MARBLE PTY. LTD.  We assure you of our best attention at all times and please do not hesitate to contact our office to discuss any matters of which we maybe of further assistance.
